Time to Sign Up for the Azalea Sale!

The annual GWC Azalea Sale is one of the most meaningful experiences in the life of our Club. It's a great opportunity to spend time working together, laughing and joking and getting to know one another. Better yet, the Sale raises funds for our Club’s educational, community service, and scholarship programs and activities.
We need help for both setup and sales. Setup runs from March 31 through April 2. After that, sales begin on Thursday, April 3, and continue through Saturday, April 12. We are closed on Sunday, April 6. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. This year, the event will be held in the Tobacco Pavilion (near where we were previously at the Flower Show area) at the State Fairgrounds. Enter through Gate 6 and park where we've parked previously. It's a short walk to the Tobacco Pavilion. As always, parking is free (click here to see map for location and how to get there).
Help is needed beginning on March 31st (unloading and setting up), and continuing with sales and cleanup from April 3 through April 12. Click here to pick days and time to help your Club, your community, and NCSU Horticulture students!

What's Happening in March at the GWC

This month, our presenter, Erica Winston historian of the Raleigh Garden Club, tells us about how a group of volunteer gardeners contributed to the landscape of the Raleigh we know today - one of the best places to live on many rankings for its green environment. This forgotten history of the contributions of Garden Clubs to the civic landscape proved an astonishing story of grassroots activism and gardening … one completely lost today. We’ll take a look back in photos and go on a virtual tour of Raleigh's garden club "footprints." These are places we pass every day but may not know the story behind them: the Rose Garden, the Chapel Garden at Dix Park, the Edna Metz Wells, and Hymettus Woods Parks, the Freedom Trees, the Liberty Dawn Redwoods, and more. Remembering how communities worked together to shape their environment lends a sense of empowerment that is very relevant today.
Monthly meetings begin officially at 7:30 PM at the Ruby McSwain Education Center, JC Raulston Arboretum ( click link for map), on the third Tuesday of each month (that’s the 18th in March). Refreshments and social time start at 7:00. Visitors and prospective new members are always welcome!
Not a member? We feel your pain. But not to worry! The GWC's got you covered. First off, you're always welcome to attend our presentations as a guest. Even better, you're always welcome to become a member. If you love gardens and gardening in the Carolinas (and hanging around with others who feel the same way) why not join us! We'd love to have you! A handy online membership application awaits you right here!
